I am a researcher and educator specializing in Greco-Roman literature and its reception from antiquity to the present day.
As of August 2026, I will be the University Lecturer in Latin Studies at the University of Basel, where I have previously spent two years as a Postdoctoral Assistant. Prior to relocating to my native Switzerland, I studied, taught, and researched ancient worlds in the United Kingdom (at Magdalen College, Oxford), the United States (in Harvard's Department of the Classics), and Germany (at the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae in Munich). My intellectual outlook continues to be shaped by international as well as interdisciplinary perspectives.

An up-to-date overview of my teaching and research can be found in my CV. Recently, I also did an interview for the TLL podcast, where I talk about my interest in Latin lexicography and my ongoing research, which you can listen to here. If you would like to learn more about my work or are interested in collaborating, feel free to get in touch at massimo.ce@unibas.ch.
